Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Weight Loss After Recovering From Pneumonia?
IN feb. I had pneumonia. Afterwards I experienced extreme weight loss, excessive night sweating, intolerance to too cold or too hot environments, intolerance to salt, acid reflux, heartburn, body weakness, restlessness, trembling/shaking hands, and insomnia and loss of menstral cycle for 2/3 months
How old are you? Recovery from pneumonia does not mean you are completely healed. You won't be running any marathons any time soon. You'll still need time to recover at home. Your lung function may not be the same as before your pneumonia. Lungs may not be able to expand fully when you breathe, or some lung tissue may be permanently damaged. This can affect the amount of oxygen that enters and amount of carbon dioxide that leaves your body. This can leave you feeling tired easily, and sometimes short of breath. Muscle weakness is common after pneumonia due to lack of activity and possible weight loss. In addition, people who have underlying medical problems, such as lung or heart disease, often experience an increase in their symptoms of those conditions. Do breathing techniques like pranayama or basarika. Use inhalers, check for non-resolving pneumonia that cause your symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
