What Causes Weight Loss And How To Prevent It?

I am currently being treated for hypothyroid and have been for 4 years now. i have a 3 year old and since having him I have went from 145 to 115 pounds and continue to loose weight. My thyroid is checked every year and stays the same. I dont want to loose any more weight...as I am 5'6" and very thin looking. My average weight before thyroid medicine and pregnancy was about 135-140 which was just fine for my height. I did have trouble becoming pregnant for years and finally my thyroid was checked and he said I had an unactive thyroid so I started the synthroid and exactly one year later strangly I became pregnant.. so my question is why would I continue to lose weight. If I stop taking the thyroid medicine I get really bad headaches. Could there be some other underlying issue? My doctor ask me if I was eating...well of course im eating and eating very well so I know that is not the reason for my weight loss. As of July 12 I weighed 123 pounds and now I have lost more and Im weighing 115. Any suggestion ...

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have hypothyroidism and you are taking synthroid. Overdose of synthroid can be a cause of weight loss. So check your T3, T4 and TSH level and give me follow up with reports so that I can help you further. If it is not due to thyroid issue then we will search for other cause.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic.
Wish you very good health.
