What Causes White Clumps In The Stool During Pregnancy?
I am 15 weeks pregnant and yesterday I noticed white clumps in my stool. Just at the very end of it though. I had no diarrhea, yet this morning, I am and there are still some, not many, white clumps. Should I go see my OB? Could this be serious? I am 28 years old, 5 2 and about 140lbs (pre-pregnancy weight about 125lbs). This is my 2nd pregnancy. And I am usually a healthy person, no allergies to any medications either. Please help. Thank you
Seeing white in your stool is likely mucus or some residue of something you ate. It is not harmful and is not related to the pregnancy. If it continues I would mention it to your OB doctor and they can send a sample of your stool for analysis. It takes a few days to digest and eliminate your food so I would wait a week and if it is still there discuss it with your doctor. But there is nothing to worry about concerning the baby.
I hope this information was helpful, and best of luck with your pregnancy.
Sincerely, Dr. Brown
