What Causes White Colored Throat And Mucus Build Up In A Child?
I am a 14 year old boy and was just looking at the back if my throat and discovered it was veiny and a very light pink almost whitish compared to the very pink throats shown online and my tonsils look almost cut up, I was wondering if I should be concerned? There is no pain but I do seem to have a large amount of mucus build up there and about once every year I have an unbearable sore throat that lasts about 2 days.
Dear young one, Thanks for choosing our forum. What you are looking at is possibly a normal throat or a normal variant. You don't have to worry too much about this unless you have throat symptoms or fevers. Whatever throat infections you had taken before will not usually leave a long term presentation in the throat. Just check with your parents whether you underwent a tonsillectomy earlier as you mentioned about an appearance of cut tonsils in the throat or it could be even a small sized tonsil which could give that appearance. So young man, just sit back and relax. Best wishes,Dr.Pravin Asir.
