What Causes White Discharge In Nipples?

I have a thick white discharge from both nipples. I went through a period of hyerthyroidism last year followed by hypothyroidism after initial treatement (medication only), then stable since then. I'm having a few mild symptoms again but unsure as to whether they are hyper or hypo as much of them are the same. Could this be related to either?
