HI...this is quite common a symptom when there is Infectious mononucleosis. This is because there will be swollen tonsils and there will be some amount of upper airway obstruction in these cases and hence they tend to bring the saliva out as swallowing will be painful. In such cases for the same reason the oral intake also will be difficult and reduced.
There is nothing in this that you should be concerned and it will go off in due course.
