What Causes White Sore Patch On Mouth With Fever And Cough?

I just noticed my almost 4 year old has some white sore patch on the inside of her mouth towards her lip. She has been sick with a fever and cough for the last 2 days as well. What could this be and is there anything I should do to treat it at home?

By what you quote I think it could be an aphthous ulcer and you can treat it by using Zytee gel application on the sore 15 minutes before feeding her.

It is very common in viral illness. Fever of 2 days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If she is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active. You can treat fever with Paracetamol at 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly if fever is > 100F.
