Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your son's symptoms as well as MRI brain findings.

The most likely causes for a white spot (hyperintense lesion) in the brain in a 21-year old are demyelination (such as multiple sclerosis) or infection.

The confirmation of diagnosis can be done by lumbar puncture (CSF analysis) and MRI of spine.

There is no need to worry, as there are good treatments available for both the conditions.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Best wishes,
