What Causes White Stools?

My daughter just called me with a concern about having white or cream colored stools today. She doesn't want to call her doctor because she feels they never help her and she feels like she's a nuisance to them. Should she call her doctor or just wait it out? (btw, her dad died a couple years ago from hep-C)
