What Causes Whole Body Itching While On Plaquenil?

Dr. started me on Plaquenil on Dec. 9, 2016......I m 68 yrs. old. Over the last 2 weeks I ve had extreme itching on the body but mostly arms, hands, ankles and to a lesser extent every place else. I ve also started having hot flashes and light headedness. About 6 wks. ago I started a period that lasted 5 days of light showing. Could this medication cause this?

Certainly one can have an allergic reaction to about any medication. It is a strong reason to stop taking the medicine until the situation is sorted out. Allergies can become very serious and even affect breathing.
