What Could A Open Pore In Back Which Fills Like A Lump And Smelly On Unclogging Be?

I have an open pore on my back that looks like a hole. It fills and I can feel it as a lump. It s difficult to clear the clog at the top but when I do it s like emptying a tube of toothpaste. There is also a foul musty smell that comes out. Is this something that I should have checked out? I know my dad has had 2 of these through his life also.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the open pore in back which "fills" like a lump and is smelly on unclogging.

It appears form your query that you have developed infection in the "Sebaceous cyst on back area with inflammation at the affected region. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of pinching or popping or friction.

You should meet a dermatologist who can take out the cyst completely so that it should not get filled again and again. For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.

If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment.
