What Could Be Brown, String Like Substance In Stool?

I noticed a brown "string-like" substance in my stool. It was very fragile and broke apart as I tried to remove it from the toilet. It almost looked like a long piece of fatty tissue or something similar. I am a bit worried that it may be a worm or parasite, however. Do you have any idea what this might be?

Hello,

As per your complain you have problem of thin stringy stool that may be because of low fiber or lack of water intake. Intestinal parasite infection like giardia also leads to thin stool. If you have this problem for more than 1 week and abdominal symptoms are present then do a stool examination test to check parasitic infection. Blood test for further diagnosis. Consult a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
