Hello,

You may require follow-up, stool testing, and possibly hospital admission especially since you are still passing blood and having so many toilet visits. The hospital gave IV fluids and antibiotics to you is indicative that they suspected bacterial / amoebic cause, but without proper testing, it’s not fully confirmed.

Since you are passing blood in stools, high frequency diarrhea, abdominal pain, and weakness or dizziness, get admitted in a better-equipped hospital (preferably one with a gastroenterology department. Get a full blood work done that should include CBC, CRP, ESR, kidney, liver function, and electrolyte level tested. Get stool examination, microscopy for amoeba, stool culture for bacteria, occult blood test done.

Abdominal ultrasound, and colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy should be done if bleeding persists. Your symptoms can be caused by severe infectious gastroenteritis, ischemic colitis (reduced blood supply to colon), IBS, severe amoebiasis with colitis, typhoid with intestinal ulceration, parasitic infestations or GI bleeding from polyps or tumors.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
