What Could Be Done To Come Out Of Gabapentin Causing Shortness Of Breath?

I was only on Gabapentin for a week and it became obvious i had side effects. They are still making me go on a 9 day withdrawal plan. It causes me shortness of breath, my hands shake, I sweat profusely, and there about 10 other side effects I have. Is there any other way to come off this drug than this slow motion thing? It s taking me longer to come off than I was even on it.What else can be done? I get a little scared with the shortness of breath. I m on oxygen already and am having to increase it. Can you help?

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

It generally doesn't need a withdrawal plan unless people have dependence or seizures. If someone is in a dangerous situation, hospitalization and controlled going off of it with medication if there are seizures is an alternative.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Matt Wachsman
