What Could Be The Better Medication For The Severe Sore Throat And Itching?

my wife is suffering from acute sore throat and is currently taking cefpodoxime 200 mg twice daily. but still after taking the medicine for 2 days she hasn't got any better and even her itching in throat has increased could we change her medicine and what should be the better medicine to treat her now.

Hi, thanks for the query.

Start antiseptic mouthwash , Plenty of fluids , Paracetemol + Ibuprofen combination , Antihistaminic levocetirizine + Montelukast , Antibiotic azithromycin , Vit C for 5 days.
Certainly above treatment will give you much relief but if relief is not upto satisfaction level then consultation with your ENT doctor will become essential.
