What Could Be The Black Patch On Butt That Itches?

A few weeks ago, I began itching either from a product I was using or something else. It is in my buttocks and it doesn t itch when I am sitting or standing but just when I lie down. I just had my husband look at it and he says it is black. What can this be. I know that I have probably scratched it a lot but I have also tried to keep it clean.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of black patch on butt that itches seems to be due to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply aloe vera gel and apply betnovate cream twice a day. You should wear loose clothes. Avoid scratching this area. Use calamine lotion to soothe skin. You should consult dermatologist once and get it examined. You can go for antibiotics such as clindamycin, corticosteroid ointment only after doctors prescription.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
