I am 40 and my periods are very light flow and regular but dark red almost black in colour and very stringy. I am quite healthy but have not had periods until recently as I had 2 mirena's, each for 5 years and had no period during this time. I had the mirena removed about 5 months ago. I have regular pap tests (last one about 6 months ago) and all have been fine.
Hi, I can understand your concerns. The dark blood is due to clotted blood. Mirena as such does not cause this but it can be your age which causes changes in your period patterns. I do not think there is anything to worry about. You will be fine. If you are very concerned then you can get a sonography of womb/uterus done Any other queries feel free to contact us.
