What Could Be The Reason For Blood In Stool?

my 2 year old is potty training and makes himself poop sometimes. He strains some, but not too much. He just went, and had a long mucus string hanging from his rectum I pulled it, and it did not have bright red blood, but it looked like dry blood. Should I be worried?
