What Could Be The Reason For Having Numbness In Hands And Soreness In Arm?

I have started to use a nicotine patch, I was smoking 2 backs a day and I am on step one of the patch. It is normal to have tingly to numbness in my fingers. I had the patch on longer than I should have and now have a sore arm, would that have something to do with the numb hands?
