Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. M Agarwal's Response
hello. welcome to HCM Forum
We presume that your child's dietary habits and stool colour has previously been normal. the common causeof pale stools in infants is mostly viral infection of GIT. make sure, he is given adequate micronutrient supplements (especially zinc), as advised by your pediatrician.
secondly, probiotic supplements are usually indicated in viral diarrheas.
thirdly, make sure to get him appropriately vaccinated (especially against Rotavirus, which can be a cause of severe diarrhoeas in infants) if not yet vaccinated.
It is important to visit a pediatrician as viral bowel infections in children are usually preceeded by nose and chest congestion and auscultation of the chest is also needed
Hope this helps.
