Hello! I'm 15 years old, and yesterday, about a half hour or so after I woke up and my tooth started to ache because of a cavity I have (I'm visiting the dentist soon). So, I started flexing my jaw and such, to try and ease some of the ache. As I was opening my mouth wide, I hear a crunching sound, sort of like when you crack your neck or your back.
And today, I feel a sort of stiffness in the right side of my jaw ( the 'hinge') by my ear that I'm sure wasn't there before. Also, it's on the opposite side of the tooth with the cavity, so I know it's not a toothache. It doesn't feel any different when I bite down, and there isn't a lot of pain, but it does feel uncomfortable when I move it a certain way, so ive been relaxing it, and it's starting to scare me, just a little.
Is this anything to worry about? I read on a health site that it may be a sprained muscle or some sort of arthritis, but should I go into the hospital for it?
Thank you for your time.
