What Could Be The Reason For The Itchiness All Over The Body Causing Redness When Scratched And Am A Type II Diabetic Patient?
I am a type II diabetic. I have been suffering from itchy skin (all areas of my body) for the last three months. It is not always in the same areas, at times it has been on my back, stomach, arms and legs and feet. I have no rash but redness is caused by the scratching. I have tried body oil, lotions, showers, baths, Epsom salts and antihistamines (daily for a week but to no avail). Benadryl allows me to sleep but little more than that. .
Welcome to HCM. It looks to be some allergic episodes called urticaria. There is always some triggering factor for it. Be watchful for triggering factor. It might be due to some food, cloths, body lotion, soap, perfume. Take tablet fexofenidine for long time which is non sedative anti allergic medicine. Short course of mild steroid is also required in some cases during severe episode. Local application of calamine/aloevara lotion will be helpful to get cool effect. Go for serum allergy test to find out exact allergen. Otherwise go for regular follow up investigations for diabetes like FBS,PPBS,HbA1c. Keep in touch with your treating doctor.
