What Could Be The Reason For The Palatopharyngeal Arch To Seem Like Its Closing?

My palatopharyngeal arch(had to look up what it was connected to the sides of the uvula) in my mouth is like closing. Is that do to a normal cold? I got a strep test and that was negative and the nurses at the university said its not tonsils. but I have notice the back of my throat looks smaller.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding closing of palatopharyngeal arch.

The palatopharyngeal arch is coming closure to each other to look like closing the pharyngeal way in these conditions-

1- Enlarged tonsils.

2- Palsy of glossopharyngeal nerve.

In your case most likely chronic hypertrophy of tonsils are the possible reason and this can be confirm by physical examination and accordingly that may be manage.

Regards.
