What Could Be The Reasons For Pea Size Lump Under Wrist And Bruise Around It?

Hello. My child has a pea size lump under his skin just above the inside of the wrist. Also over skin is a large round purple bruise. After a day or two the bruise began to spread down to the wrist. There was no injury. What is the lump and why is the bruise widening and spreading?

Hello,
Thanks for the query.

He might have developed furuncle.

These are deep bacterial infections.

Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity test done on material obtained from the lesion.

The bruise around may suggest spread of infection.
