What Could Blood In Stool Indicate?

I am a 40 year old woman who until a week ago was fairly regular. Last night I noticed blood on my stool. The stool itself was small and dark but the blood a maroon-red colour. I've been feeling nauseous since (not sure if it's because I'm worried). Is this a hospital concern or a make a Dr's appt concern. I'm not sure how urgently to react

HI
Well come to HCM
Thank for asking a question
your query being appreciated, blood stained stool could be due to constipation that might have formed the anal fissure or hemorrhoid apart from this it could be due to infection and systemic disease and just to confirmation clinical examination is must, but I would advise you to just waist for some time it may be due to diet also if so then it may not be long lasting or happening regularly, you can only consult the doctor when the symptom is severe and happens every day at the time of defecation hope this information helps.
