What Could Cause An Immovable Small Hard Knot At The Back Of The Head?
Hi, I have a 2 1/2 year old baby girl and we just noticed a nickel size hard knot on the back of her head, right in the middle and center of the back of the head, about a month ago. We don't know whether to be concerned or not because it is not painful to her and her behavior hasn't changed at all.. It doesn't move around but it's really hard like a bone.. Could you please tell me some ideas of what this could be? I am getting worried where it hasn't went away and she hasn't had head injury. I would like to know if I should get her checked out or if it will eventually go away. Thank you in advance, we would really appreciate your input.
She has knot due to enlarged lymph node. Mostly it is due to benign causes and doesn't require any treatment. It may be due to scalp or ear infection. There are chain of draining lymph nodes in neck region and it generally enlarges due to distal infection. If she has dandruff or louse infestation,it should be treated as it may also be the cause of lymph node enlargement. Get well soon.
