What Could Cause Bump On Leg In A 12 Years Old Child?

Hi, I just noticed that my 12 yr old daughter has a noticeable bump on the outside of her leg, just below the knee, that appears to be part of the fibia (sp?) bone. After examining her other leg...and myself & my other daughter s legs...it appears that this area does have a slight natural swelling, but it it very noticeable and larger on her one leg. I have no idea how long it has been like this and she doesn t either. Is it in the realm of normal for this to occur? I have made an appointment to see her doctor tomorrow, but in the meantime I am worried.

Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I understand your concerns. The swelling can be due normal variation or an overgrowth. But definitely, if it's very prominent, it needs a proper evaluation by orthopedic surgeon. They may advice you for a limb X Ray if required.

Hopefully this will help you.
Take care
