What Could Cause Constant Falling Down In A Child?

My 6 year old daughter falls all the time. In the bath, in the house, playing outside, everywhere. She is constantly either popping up saying I m alright or if no one is around, crying. She has been in dance for 3 years and excells at it. Should I ask the school counseler to evaluate her?

Hi

Welcome to the HCM

I understand your concern but don't worry. A drop attack is a sudden fall, with or without unconsciousness, due either to collapse of muscle tone or abnormal muscle contraction in the legs. Many neurological diseases, cardiac diseases, ear diseases, muscle dysfunction conditions like myoclonic syndromes and startle responses can cause drop attacks. In about 30% of drop attacks the cause is unknown.
So, I would recommend you to go for a complete health examination of your daughter including ENT, neurological, cardiac and ophthalmic, to rule out any pathological cause for such falls.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further child health relate questions.

Take care
