Hello my daughter had a fever a few days ago between 100.4 - 102 and then I noticed a sore on her lip like a cold sore and today I noticed her gums are a little swollen. I know she has 3 teeth coming in, could this be the reason for this? Also she has lost her appetite
Gum swelling can be due to the possibility of teeth eruption. So don't worry. In case she seems to be irritable and discomfortable, you can give her acetaminophen or ibuprofen syrup for pain relief.
A slightly raised temperature (lower than 38 degrees C), but not a fever can be an associated symptom for which acetaminophen will be helpful.
Your toddler may lose his appetite when he's teething. Chilled foods, such as a yoghurt or fruit purees, may soothe his gums and be more appealing.
