What Could Cause Jelly Like Substance In The Stool With Constipation?

Hi, for two weeks now, I have been seeing a jelly like substance in my stool. Today, I decided to see what the substance was (sounds gross). When I looked closely, the substance was a brownish yellow color and was leaving behind a watery yellow. I use the bathroom regularly and thought it would sooner or later go away. When i first started noticing, I would get constipated and have mild cramping. When I would use the bathroom nothing but gas would come out. I m confused as to what could be the cause of this. My diet isn t the healthiest but it hasn t changed. What could be the cause of this? Your answer is greatly appreciated.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of seeing a jelly like substance in the stools for the last 2 weeks, brownish yellow and leaving behind a watery yellow. There is history of constipation and mild cramping. Diet is not changed, wants to know what it would be.
As per the history you have provided, this looks to be a ball of mucus which the colon secretes in response to hard stools impacted. Mucus is very slimy so that the body can push the hard feces easily and expels out easily. BY the nature the mucus attract the bile salts and pigments to give the color you have noted or can be due to infection of the mucosal lining of colon.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Send the stool for tests.
Tests of blood and urine.
Ultrasonography.
Take mild laxative and adjust he dosages as per your needs to keep the stool soft.
Add more green leafy vegetables, fibers to the diet.
Enema if required.
Take an X-ray of the abdomen to know the fecal loading of the colon and any other associated problems.
