What Could Cause Loose Bowel Motions For 6 Months With Campy Stomach Pain And Grumbly Noise In The Stomach?

Hi my name is Kerry I'm 55 years old. I have been having loose bowel motion for about six months now. This morning I woke at five o'clock and had to go to the toilet straight away and then every twenty minutes or so I got campy pain in my stomach and I had to go again. This went on for five hours , it has settled down a bit now but I'm having grumbly noises in my stomach and I'm going to have to go again soon. What do you think ?

Chronic diarrhoea refers to diarrhoea that lasts at least 4 weeks.

There are different possible causes such as: (1) irritable bowel syndrome

(2)inflammatory bowel disease- there are different types,the most common are crohns disease, ulcerative colitis

(3)infections

(4)food allergies

(5)hyperthyroidism

(6)diabetes

(7) side effect of medication

You should consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation which would include physical examination as well as blood/urine/stool tests.

The treatment would depend on the cause found.
