What Could Cause One Allergic To Sea Food?

Hi I get a reaction to any type of seafood; itchy mouth, throat parts of my body, ball like feeling in my throat, so I stopped eating seafood. I tested negative to everything on my allergy test Now for the past few days I get the same reactions when I eat any type of nut, and also Kiwi. What is happening to me?

Food allergies are common among people who have a weak immune system but nothing much can be done except you need to be careful about what you eat. Foods which have produced allergic reactions must be completely eliminated from diet. Seafood, nuts and sometimes certain fruits and vegetables also produce allergy. Food allergy occurs due to presence of proteins in food which act as antigens which the body perceives as foreign and trigger production of antibodies leading to allergic manifestations in the form of skin rash, respiratory distress or gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal cramps and diarrhea. You need to record what type of foods cause allergy in a diary and steer clear of those foods!

You can consult an allergist who may ask you to undergo various tests for confirming allergies and will prescribe you appropriate medications for treating any symptoms. In the meantime, avoid all foods which are causing such reactions. Allergies are common with foods like seafood, shellfish, eggs, peanuts, soybean, wheat and milk as they all contain proteins.

Read food labels carefully when eating packaged food. Do you have any family member who is allergic to certain foods? Food allergies tend to run in families, so maybe you have inherited it. Hope you have got some idea about food allergies and what course of action you need to undertake.
