What Could Cause Pain In Abdomen And Thighs And Blood In Urine With A History Of Hysterectomy?

It all started about 4 months ago: acute bad upper and lower abdo pain, dr thought I had UTI, msu sent but clear, abdo pain subsided but I felt like something was irritating my bladder so I took cystitis meds which didn t help. This feeling has subsided. I then started testing positive on dipstick for blood in urine (I think this is where blood is coming from) and have recently had ureterscope which was okay: no issues with bladder or kidneys found. All this time I have had persistent groin discomfort radiating down the front of my upper thighs and intermitent lower abdo pain, I would assume just above my bladder but can be painfully higher too. Now and again the abdo pain is felt in the lower left side of my abdo. I have had a total hysterectomy, right ovary only remains. This was 2,5 years ago. I am waiting further imaging but this isn t going to happen for some weeks, everything seems as though it is crawling along. Urology ct was clear although I was told this was concentrated only on the left side of my body. Bloods: fbc, see and crp I gave been told are within range. I am worried. Any suggestions as to what might be going on? Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

There could be several causes for blood in the urine. A bladder stone or stone in the kidneys could be a cause but this will be identified in ultra sound examination. Urinary tract infection is a important cause of bladder stone. A urine routine and urine for culture and sensitivity will help to identify the organism responsible. There are several other causes like nephritis, bleeding disorders etc. Some of the rare causes may require further investigations.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
