What Could Cause Pain In Right Side Of Throat While Swallowing Saliva?

Hi I had pain in my right side of the throat when swallowing saliva. It started 10 days now. My doctor prescribed antibiotics for 6 days but, it did not help. First viewed doctor said it is a bacterial infections and my right tonsil inflamed. Second week I seen another doctor, said nothing wrong your tonsil it should be viral infection it will be cure up to three weeks and no need any medications. Could you please tell me....what is the problem?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in throat when swallowing saliva can be due to causes like throat infection that can be bacterial [strep throat] or viral in nature..
It can also be due to acid reflux causing inflammation in throat secondary to acid injury..

I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture, pH value of throat, upper G.I Endoscopy and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be given antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers, Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, antacids, warm saline gargles and steam inhalations for relief..
Avoiding spicy food and drinking plenty of water can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
