What Could Cause Pain In The Lower Right Side Of The Stomach & Blood In Stools?

My 5 year old son has been having lower right side pain in tummy and passes blood sometimes when does bowel motion and it usually happens when has bad pain in side. Have had bloods taken twice and everything normal. Ultrasounds twice and found 13 lymph nodes swollen both times. Not sure what answer is to do. He is tried at school, crying with pain about 1 every 2 weeks up all night.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
5 year old child having 13 lymph nodes in the abdomen is the obvious reason for pain in abdomen. The pain in the right lower side indicate that he might have appendicitis or Meckel's diverticulitis as the cause of pain and lymph nodes also. Te blood in stool can not be really explained but the possibility says about diverticulitis as it can cause blood in stool on ulceration or so.
Hence the best possible ways is to go for further diagnosis by the following:
Tests of stool.
Pediatric colonoscopy and biopsy.
CT scan of the abdomen.
Surgery if indicated, Pediatric Laparoscopy can be done as a diagnostic tool, get biopsy of one lymph node and also to go for the surgical correction of any surgical pathology if found on laparoscopy.
The treatment will obviously depend upon the cause thus found.
