What Could Cause Regular Vomiting Despite Poor Gag Reflex, Enlarged Adenoid/tonsil Problem?

my 4 yr old has markedly enlarged adnoids as well as tonsils being enlarged, with moderate hearing loss. He is scheduled to have them removed. He has always had a bad gag reflex but he now vomits regularly. Is this a symptom of his andnoid/tonsil problem?
