What Could Cause Severe Headaches Especially While Urinating After A Stomach Infection?

My 13 year old son has been home sick for a week with the stomach bug hasn t thrown in 3 days but during thie end of this bug he has been experiencing severe headache and very sharp head pains when urinating and he is in extreme pain . On a scale on 1-10 he says a 10 and his entire face turns red and his pain is on the top of head unlike his usually migraines that he has had since he was around 10 . He is taking 3 ibuprofen per doctors recommending . I see no results from this treatment and it takes anywhere from an hr to 4 before it goes away . Now I am worried about going back to school on Monday because he is still miserable ! Help ? Suggestions ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Migraine is actually a functional disease and it is not the pure form of pathology here in this case. It seems to be migraine only but looking to his age it may be associated with other functional elements and for that it is better to see the pediatric psychologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
