What Could Cause Stiffness In Wrist After 3 Months Of Therapy

My wife broke her right wrist sep 06 2013 and had a cast until oct 21 2013. once the cast was removed, she started physical therapy twice a week. She has continued her therapy now and was notified today by the therapist that she should have her wrist xrayed given the stiffness in her wrist is still there when the wrist is bent backwards. What would the reasons be for such stiffness after 3 months of therapy? She also mentioned that this could be b/c of extra bone growth, is that possible?

Hi
Wrist fractures causes complications like radial or median nerve damage according to the area involved. But the nerve damage will resolve slowly and it will take time.It is possible to have a nerve compression also.In such cases surgery might be required to decompress it.It is better to have an x ray and look for any malunion or possibility of nerve compression first.Consult your orthopedician for that.Hope this may help you.
thanks
