What Could Cause Sudden Swelling Of Hips With A Lump?

My hip has been hurting really bad. It is swollen, warm to touch and has a lump under the skin. It hurts on the outter hip area and as of today started hurting on the top of my thigh and inner thigh. Weird thing is I did not fall or bump into anything, do you have any idea what could be going on?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a soft tissue swelling.
Consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan to make a diagnosis.
If there is diagnostic confusion, a fine needle biopsy may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
