What Could Cause Swelling And Pain In The Knee And A Popping And Cracking Sound While Walking?

I hurt my knee. It s not really swollen, but I can feel and hear popping and cracking when I walk (especially when going up and down stairs) actually i can go up stairs, but it hurts and I can definitely get it cracking when I go down stairs. I can put pressure on it, but I can t make sudden moves left or right.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a locked knee due to foreign body entrapment. Consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
