What Could Cold Sensation On Top Of Cheeks After Eating Sweets Indicate?

When I eat cake or any other sweets in large quantities, I feel a cold sensation right at the tops of my cheeks, under the eyes about an inch or so. I ve had this all my life and can find no conclusive answers online, some say B12 deficiency but increasing my intake has changed nothing, others say it could be insulin related blood vessel constriction, but it s not all sweets that do this to me, so it seems unlikely. I m a healthy 21 year old male, I work daily and exercise several times a week, my diet is relatively healthy (I cheap out on weekends and get a pizza occasionally) is there any other explanations that I could have overlooked? Thanks - Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sensation of cold on top of cheek after eating sweets can occur due to two reasons .

First , there can be caries or infection in your upper tooth that has reached the pulp .

Secondly there is a crack in the tooth .

I would suggest you to consult the dentist for proper examination .

Doctor may order X-ray of upper teeth on affected side to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may also check for the crack in the tooth with the help of bite test and test with fiber optic camera .

If there is pulpitis then doctor will perform Root canal treatment and covet tooth with cap or crown . In case of mild crack splint or crown can be given , if crack extend ti the root tip the tooth has to be extracted .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
