What Could Constant Pain In Right Leg Moving Around Knee And Calf With History Of Mastectomy Surgery Indicate?

I'm black 64 year old female, getting constant pain down my right leg, Pain seems to move between, 1 of 3 places. (1. just above the right knee on the right side of my right leg, (2. The right side or left side of my right knee, (3. just below the right knee on the right side around the calf area. My husband thinks it is a pinched nerve in my back that is causing this. I've never had an injury to my back, but all this started with pain in my lower back near my waist line after I had a left mastectomy surgery performed in 2000 or 2001. From that it has gradually migrated to what I described in my opening description. I'm looking for some professional advice....Please help me.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I dont think that It is related to breast surgery. It can be either knee arthritis or lumbar spondylitis. Do you have pain on sitting on ground or cross leg sitting. Than most probably it is knee osteoarthritis. If your pain us more like electric sensation and increase on standing and relieved on rest, it is most commonly spinal. You need to show to a orthopedic surgeon.

General Surgeon Dr. M Y Shareef's  Response
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Possibly your husband might be right in his opinion on your pain in the leg and around the knee. However, to know the cause of this possible reason, I as a doctor would have advised you to undergo a MRI of your spine with the history of mastectomy in the past. Further management would depend on the report of MRI spine.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
