What Could Discolored, Reddish, Bruise Like Skin On Armpit Mean?
Hi yesterday I noticed yesterday that my armpits were discolored. They are a reddish color almost looking bruised but they aren t. There s no pain or itching. I have never had this issue before. I noticed that morning they were normal but a couple hours later they became discolored. I read it could be a vitamin deficiency but I m not sure. I really just want to know how to treat it and how long it will take. Should I go see a doctor or is this normal to happen? It has never happened before and the left armpit is worst than the right. The color is darker on the outside than the inside. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.
Hi. As per your case history you are having fungal infection called as tinea corporis. My treatment advice is - 1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily. 2. Apply an antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
