What Could Epithelial Cells In Urine Suggest?

Hi Sir, I am 24 years old woman. I am an epilepsy patient. I went for blood test and urine test every half a year because I have been taking carbamazepine for 3 years. The blood report result is ok. But everytime when i had urine test, the result shows positive epithelial cell. The most recent urine test report also shows positive epithelial cell with pH urine of 9. Is there any problem with my urinary tract? Is it due to the drug I am consuming ?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Presence of epithelial cells is normal in urine.
2. If it is associated with increased red blood or white blood cells or with casts, then it would be worrisome.
3. In absence of all these, it is normal and not to worry. Carbamazepine is not known to cause presence of epithelial cells in urine. Give a complete urine report for further opinion.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
