What Could Goosebumps Like Patches At The Left Forearm Be?

Hi, I’ve experienced a weird sensation where there were like patches of goosebumps on my left forearm, not a clasic goosebump that Im used to, it felt really weird since the goosebumps were really gathered in concrete patches. During that I felt a little pins and needles/electric sensation on that place and also my scalp. What could it be? It never happened to me before, I’m a female, 23, have healthy weight, no allergies, no major concernes I know of. Thank you.

Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of KP, kiratosis pilaris. It is harmless, it occurs when the dead skin cells clog the hair follicles. Thus, forming goosebumps. The skin may become red, itchy and dry. Take care of your scalp hygiene. Take bath regularly with medicated soap and avoid using perfumed or scented beauty / body products. Apply water-based moisturizer before the skin becomes dry. You can apply ointment hydrocortisone on the area affected to prevent itching.

However, since you get a pins and needles sensation, get it clinically examined by a Neurologist to rule out any developing neurological problem. You will have to get done certain tests like NCV test, nerve biopsy, imaging tests, etc. Your treatment will depend on the pathology diagnosed. In the meantime, take food rich in vitamin B6, B12 or supplement.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
