What Could It Be If Feeling Like Something Is Shaking Below Last Rib?

I have had this going on for about a week this time, sometimes in the past it lasted for maybe 2-3 days. The best way I can describe it is thus. On my front left side just a 1/2" below my last rib, is a "vibration", like an organ is "shaking" and it lasts about 5-10 seconds each time. It happens many, many times a day. It is not painful, but feels real strange. It is like a "buzzer" is going off right there. I am concerned. It is located just to the left of my solar plexus.

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

After going through the description, I personally feel that it could be most propably due to a muscle twitch. Muscle twitches are caused by our muscles tightening up ("contracting") involuntarily — in other words, when we're not actually controlling them.

Muscle twitches can happen for lots of reasons, like stress, too much caffeine, a poor diet, exercise, or as a side effect of some medications. They're often related to stress or anxiety.

Although most twitches go away in a few days and are nothing to worry about, some twitches can be caused by nerve problems or other medical conditions. Let your doctor know if:
•     you have a twitch that doesn't go away
•     you notice weakness, tingling, or numbness in the area where you get muscle twitches
•     it looks like the muscle is getting smaller
Getting enough sleep, avoiding too much caffeine, and eating healthy foods (like lots of fruits and vegetables), can help prevent some muscle twitches.

If your symptoms are not resolving with the above mentioned measures, consult your family physician for a detailed evaluation and further management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
