What Could Recurring Pain In Lower Front Abdomen Of A Child Indicate?

my 5yo daughter has been complaining of a sore tummy on and off all day, even when playing. Now at bedtime it s started again and it has woken her twice. I ve given her paracetamol for kids but doesn t seem to have worked an hour later. The pain seems to be based at the front lower area of the abdomen, should I bring her to a&e id it persists Thanks

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Recurring abdominal pain in a five year old could be due to gastroenteritis or worms.
These two possibilities are the most common in children.
Yes, you will have to consult a pediatrician for clinical assessment.
A stool examination may follow, however symptomatic treatment will be given by your pediatrician before definitive treatment can be given.
Till the time the pain is relieved, give your daughter something light and avoid heavy and fried food items.
