What Could Restarted Bleeding With Clots After Stopped Periods Suggest?

Yes please! I'm 55, stopped having periods in 2002 and began bleeding again 2 months ago. Until this past week I have bled as if having a period however, for this week it's only in the morning aftre waking and getting out of bed that I first pass a clot, the toilet water is red with blood and I require a tampon. I can usually remove the tampon after an hour or two but when I pull it out its flattened? I've never experienced before. Any ideas?

Hi and thank you so much for this query

I am so sorry to hear about this bleeding that you ex[experienced after having stopped menstruating for years. Bleeding in a pot menopausal woman is a major concern and of course you would need to get evaluated and treated for this. There are different possible causes of this. Some are very worrisome and others are less worrisome. I will advice that you get consulted as soon as possible by your OBGYN for investigation and treatment. You would need a full genital examination, and ultrasound and other tests depending on the initial findings. If the bleeding is much, then visiting the emergency room should be strongly considered.

I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for patronizing our services and please do feel free to ask for follow up clarifications and information if need be. I wish you the best of health.
