What Could The Indentations On Palm Be Indicative Of?

Well, I m only 16 but there are these 2 lines on my hands that is worrying me. It is like small indents. It usually happens on my right index finger between the proximal and middle phalanx but I spotted this line about 1 inch on my palm by the thenar eminence. It sometimes itches but not too bad. If I leave it alone for a little while, it disappears. It also hasn t affected how I live. Should I be worried about this? I don t want to worry my parents.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to Dupuytren contracture. It is a hand deformity that usually develops over years. The condition affects a layer of tissue that lies under the skin of your palm. You should consult an orthopedist to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
