What Diet Is Recommended For Gout Patient?

Hi ,



My Husband has gout since he was in his teens. Doctors have suggested not to take black gram , Okra and few more things but there are many interent sites which suggests otherwise, also different docters have different opionion .



Please let me whom to trust what to believe????

Hello thanx for using hcm

You should give low protein and low purine diet and drink plenty of water.

Reduce consumption of all the protein rich sources like Egg, chicken, fish, meat,seafood , organ meats, milk and products, dals and beans .

Give more of fibre by giving plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Vit c sources helps in metabolism of uric acid so include more of tomatoes, capsicum, papaya, strawberries, oranges.

Avoid alcohol.

Cranberry or cherry juice is effective in reducing symptoms of gout.
